Bloc Party - New Album “Intimacy” - August 21

Bloc Party just announced their new album, “Intimacy,” which you can purchase digitally and receive in two days - August 21! Buy the digital album now for $10 and receive a digital copy. The physical copy will apparently have “different” tracks and will be released October 27th. You can purchase both the digital, and pre-order the the psychical right now for $20.

New Featured Video - Where The Hell is Matt?

Matt Harding decided to quit his job and travel the world where he began shooting videos of himself doing a little dance in front of monuments. He started a website called “Where the Hell is Matt” and became famous thanks to his videos–so famous, in fact, that Stride Gum proceeded to sponsor his next tour.

This is his 2008 video and is a compilation of 42 countries, and is surprisingly gorgeous and moving. It shows joy, harmony, and somehow exemplifies a true appreciation for the beauty and diversity of each culture. Additionally, it is dubbed by a song entitled “Praan” which was written just for this video, and I think is beautiful and absolutely perfect for this video. You can buy it at the Amazon mp3 store.

Noisetrade - Share Faretrade Music For Free

Noisetrade was an initiative started by Derek Webb. It’s slogan is “Faretrade music” and I believe that it was started in conjunction with Webb’s new album, “The Ringing Bell.”

I have loved her music, and I love her. My wife and I saw her at the 9:30 club, and not only was the music great — she was absolutely hilarious. She was possible the most endearing person I’ve ever seen — and the lady wife agreed.

Well, Imogen has a new album coming out sometime this fall/winter. And, she’s been documenting the albums progress on her vlog. Each entry is about 10 minutes long and the content ranges from hearing snippets of her new tunes, to incredibly boring dialogue…all of which I love.

Anyhow, this last weeks entry is worth listening to if you’re an Imogen lover because she previews four songs of her new disc! And her accent is amazing, and she says “shitloads.”

Bill O’Reily Takes on Coldplay

Bill O’Reily has officially lashed out against Coldplay for their lyrical jab at the Fox “News” Network in the song “Violet Hill”. I’m betting Chris Martin will soon be inducted into their axis of evil. Sorry for yet another Coldplay post, but this is just too ridiculous to pass up.

Amazon’s MP3 Discounts - Daily Deals & $5 Fridays

If you’ve ever read this blog, you’ll know that I hate the iTunes music store , and I love the Amazon mp3 store. Well, the Amazon store just got better. They are now offering regularly discounted materia, including Friday Five. Inquisitor reports that

“Daily Deals” is updated daily and offers a popular album at a significantly discounted price, while “Friday Five” offers five albums for $5 every Friday and through the weekend. In celebration of Coldplay’s new album, this week’s “Daily Deals” will be their preceding albums. “X&Y” which was availalbe Tuesday for $1.99, “A Rush of Blood to the Head” will be available on Wednesday for $1.99, Parachutes” will be available on Thursday for $1.99 and “Brothers and Sisters” will be offered on Friday for 99 cents.

DRM free, 256KPBS (vs. iTunes crappy 128KBPS), daily deals…whats’ not to love about Amazon’s mp3 store?

And one other thing, you can get their mp3 updates via Twitter. Awesome.

For all you Coldplay haters, eat it. Their new disc, “Viva La Vida and Death to All His Friends” just released today. This album is really, really good. Heads and shoulders above X&Y. I’m honestly not a Coldplay junkie, I’m just interested in people who write them off because they’re popular in giving them a good chance. This shows some solid growth from the band, without destroying what makes them Coldplay.

I can prove it…

Dear Chris Martin:

I love your voice. I love your band. I want to throwup all over your new iTunes video. I address this to you, Chris, because everyone else looks pretty normal. I hate calling your art bad–because you’re a much better musician than me. But whoever convinced you to do that thing with your hands should be shot at close range.

The colors are amazing, the effects are brilliant, but you look like a d-bag. Deep down, I know you’re not a d-bag, so I think it’s more disappointment than anger.

But, the song sounds rad (P.S. readers, you can buy this track on iTunes if you like).

Coldplay Tickets are WAY Too Expensive

I saw Sigur Ros for $15.00 once. It was the best show of my life. Their tickets usually go for around $90.00, and I would probably pay that.

That’s the only band in the world I would pay that much money to see.

Coldplay is trying to sell me crappy seats for $50.00 (that’s before the taxes and tickemaster fees etc.). I mean, it’s at the Verizon Center, so the “cheap” seats are gonna blow anyway. No, freaking way. So disappointing though, because I’d love to see them…

Maybe on Craigslist.

But honestly, do bands have to charge that much when they get that big? Is it a requirement? So, lame!

I wish they needed my services for something so I could make them pay ridiculous amounts of money…that sure would show ‘em.
